Caroline Blackburn : "These are no ordinary snapshots, freezing a mere passing moment in time, but elaborate supernatural tableaux that take months to create." - Jane Warren (The Express)

THE ELF

A creature that appears across the whole of Europe and like the Fairy has changed its status in public perception. Previously seen as rather cold and cruel, in this century they have become a symbol of all that is good in nature. This may be due to the effects of Tolkien who used Elves extensively as examples of honour and nobility throughout his work.
Primarily associated with woodland they are shy and elusive creatures, often living in trees. As our woodlands are being demolished to make way for roads, it seemed to me that an elf would join the road-protesters, living in the branches. Her dress is heavily veined like the markings on a road-map.
